Mechanical Engineer | Data Centres | MRL Consulting

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading company in the data centre industry, for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design, operation, and maintenance of critical mechanical systems within their Frankfurt facility. This role is key to ensuring high-performance, energy-efficient, and reliable infrastructure in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including HVAC, cooling, and fire suppression systems.
• Ensure optimal performance and reliability of all mechanical infrastructure to support 24/7 data centre operations.
• Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for mechanical system issues.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement efficiency improvements in cooling and energy management.
• Support capacity planning and system upgrades, ensuring alignment with operational and business requirements.
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with vendors and contractors to manage maintenance contracts and service-level agreements.
• Monitor and optimise mechanical system performance using data-driven insights and best practices.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in data centre, critical infrastructure, or large-scale industrial mechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling technologies, BMS, and energy efficiency best practices.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, ISO certifications, and industry regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced, high-reliability environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and analytical approach.
• Proficiency in engineering software and data centre monitoring tools.
• Fluent in German and English.
