To support their strategic growth and technical direction, they are seeking a Non-Executive Director (NED) / Technical Advisor based in San Diego. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide high-level technical guidance and industry insight, shaping the company’s technology roadmap and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical guidance on the development and commercialization of metamaterial and photonic devices.
• Advise on market positioning, technology trends, and competitive landscape to drive innovation and business growth.
• Support the R&D team, offering insights on materials science, nanofabrication, and semiconductor processes.
• Leverage industry connections to facilitate partnerships, funding opportunities, and business expansion.
• Participate in board meetings and technical reviews, ensuring alignment between technological capabilities and commercial objectives.
• Offer expertise in intellectual property strategy, regulatory considerations, and emerging applications.

Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive background in semiconductor, photonics, or metamaterials technology, with a strong track record in R&D, product development, or commercialization.
• Proven experience in executive or advisory roles, ideally within deep-tech startups, semiconductor firms, or advanced materials companies.
• Deep understanding of nanofabrication, optics, and photonic integration.
• Strong network in the semiconductor, defense, telecommunications, or sensing industries.
• Ability to provide high-level strategic insights while mentoring technical teams.
