Our client is a leading innovator in semiconductor technology, specializing in the development of high-performance integrated passive devices (capacitors, inductors). Their advanced materials and processing expertise drive next-generation semiconductor solutions for enhanced efficiency and reliability.

To support their process development initiatives, they are seeking a Process Development Engineer to focus on materials selection, process optimization, and advanced fabrication techniques. This role will involve R&D, process integration, and failure analysis to enhance performance and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Process & Materials Development

  • Identify processes, material selections, and layout designs to enhance integrated passive device performance.
  • Design and execute DOEs (Design of Experiments), leveraging metrology techniques to validate concepts.
  • Perform failure analysis, hypothesis testing, and root cause assessments to improve process margins and device performance.
  • Explore methods to modulate surface and bulk properties, improving interface thermo-mechanical stability and environmental robustness.

Manufacturing Optimization & Data Analysis

  • Develop integration schemes to optimize throughput, yield, and cost efficiency (COGS reduction).
  • Utilize statistical methods for data visualization and reporting, ensuring clear cross-functional communication.
  • Conduct trade-off studies for equipment design, cost, cycle time, and process margin optimization.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive development progress and technology transfer.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technologists.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Skills:

  • Experience with PVD/CVD deposition processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of wet, lithography, and dry (plasma/RIE) process development.
  • Proficiency in material characterization techniques (SEM, Optical, X-ray, TEM, etc.).
  • Understanding of manufacturing quality indicators (SPC, OCAP, CpK).
  • Hands-on experience with FMEA execution and structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5Y analysis).
  • Expertise in DOE development and statistical data analytics.
  • Familiarity with equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 1–7 years of experience in semiconductor process development.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • The role requires working in a high-tech manufacturing environment, with reasonable accommodations available as needed.
