To support their expanding research initiatives, they are seeking a Principal Engineer – 6G Standards Research, based in the UK. This role will focus on developing innovative technologies for 6G, driving contributions to 3GPP RAN, SA, and CT standardization, and collaborating with global industry bodies to influence the direction of future wireless systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 6G standards-driven research, with a focus on 3GPP RAN, SA, and CT technologies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the company’s 6G research and innovation efforts, including the creation of intellectual property, industry publications, and standardization proposals.
- Represent the company in global standardization bodies and industry forums, influencing key decisions in ETSI, ITU, and 3GPP.
- Monitor and analyze technological trends, ensuring research efforts align with future industry needs.
- Drive interdisciplinary research initiatives, fostering collaboration across engineering, academic, and industry teams.
- Build and maintain strategic alliances with industry leaders, academic institutions, and governmental organizations.
- Lead the company’s contributions to multiple organizations, ensuring alignment with global technology standards.
- Represent the company through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and webinars, advocating for their vision of 6G.
- Author white papers, research articles, and technical blogs, establishing thought leadership in 6G networks.
- Oversee the integration of technical solutions across multiple research projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Solve complex technical challenges in 6G research, applying advanced problem-solving and innovative thinking.
- Drive continuous improvement in research methodologies, tools, and processes to maintain a competitive edge in wireless technology.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field (PhD preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience in engineering and research, with expertise in large-scale, cross-functional projects.
- Extensive experience in 3GPP-based telecommunications, with a proven ability to influence radio and systems standardization.
- Recognized subject matter expert in wireless networks and 6G technology.
- Proven track record of innovation, with published research papers and/or patents in telecommunications.
- Exceptional communication skills, with fluency in English and experience representing companies in high-profile industry settings.
- Knowledge of European and international research and innovation ecosystems (e.g., ETSI, ITU-R IMT systems, HEU/H2020) is desirable.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and research initiatives.
- Ability to work autonomously, with a high degree of independence and self-management.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to evolving priorities and structures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical and business challenges.
- Willingness to travel internationally for collaborations, conferences, and standardization meetings.
